RED SUN is indicative of work I began around 2000. Very ornamented and dimensional. The red sun is a directly response to my native experience of 9/11. The red, or blood sun, spoke to me as expressive of what had befell my NYC neighborhood and town. It’s a theme I’ve used in other pieces of that time. Even when I was painting it I felt it was a very hopeful piece. The sun is raised or suspended, lofted by green plant “arms.” The green forms holding the sun are both organic foliage, representative of folks, us, me, and noble in their way. There are cherries on top of this piece, and huge ornamental pearls creating atmospheric life and depth. I’d purchased the window frame at a country fair and saved it until this piece asked to emerge.
Because it’s highly adorned and painted on glass the shipping of this piece will be custom. If a sale in the NYC area is possible delivery could be made in person.
