MONTMARTE is an early piece of mine and one of the first found objects (a discarded print/frame) that I painted. Without a doubt I found liberation in the second life aspect I was giving the object, freedom to paint it and hopefully to do better than its state when I found it. It’s a mixed medium piece with acrylics, adornment, enamels, nail polish.

MONTMARTE is one of the first found objects I painted. It was a framed faded print of a painting of a Montmartre scene and I used it as the foundation for this piece. It was a chance to experiment. Tabletop meets landscape, a bristling still life, a radiating floral, and a horizon being lifted. A symbolic hand lifts the background, bloodied in the process. In the vase you can see remnants of the Montmartre print.
