Jill called us together and she and Bob hosted our reunion. In our twenties, and first time Manhattan residents, the core crew lived in the same apartment building on West 86th Street. My college friend Elaine was my link. She lived there. I lived more downtown. And Bob, grew up on West 79th, so of all of us he was most native.
This reunion had the blessing of offspring too. One offspring is now married and an uncle. Another offspring is in college and was the resident rescuer of a few visiting attendees that day. Both added a great expanse to our cumulative time together.
I had been enjoying doing magnets and thought “one for each household who’ll be attending the reunion” would be a fun and doable project. I finished it the morning of the reunion. The seventh magnet, mine, isn’t in the group pic above as it was still drying. Each was wrapped in wax paper, so protected, as well as a bit visually obscured. Each person chose a magnet then passed the bunch to the next. The first magnet in the group picture (above) ended up with Jill. Was bashert.
Most of us have them on our refrigerators.
